Character Sketches

Posted on Thursday 27 August 2009

Tonight I spent some time sketching out some of the characters from the Forlorn Haunting Grounds – one of which is a concept by my seven year old daughter (Queen of Monsters) called Alesica.

I’m not a great artist and they aren’t the best scans (yeah I’m the fool who sketched on a ruled pad – sue me) but the concepts are fairly clear. I’m ever hopeful that I’ll get to build them this year.

FINEAS K. PICKMAN and EDWARD

Fineas-and-Edward

Fineas watches over the haunting grounds forever tasked with keeping the damned souls within in check. He keeps a precise catalog of all. Not all of the denizens play nice with Fineas. Helping him is his faithful companion Edward. Not much is known about Edward but some of the denizens suspect that it’s he who pulls the strings.

ELLA

Ella

More background story to come on Ella. Right now she still has some more cosmetic changes to go.

ALESICA

Alesica

This creature was conceived by my daughter who guided my sketchings. Alesica feeds off the souls of those denizens who have strayed too far from the relative safety of the haunting grounds. Yes, her hair consists of vile worms which can expand and trap her victims while she collects their souls with her staff the Forlorn Hope.

THE COLLECTOR

The-Collector

A mysterious being that wonders the grounds collecting bits and pieces from the remains of any fallen denizen. What he does with them no one knows but for those he collects its obvious that, even in the afterlife, there’s truly a fate worse than death.
