Webcam Pilot Bumpy But Successful

Posted on Tuesday 25 August 2009

For those who didn’t tune in last night we ran a pilot of the lab cam. Had a handful of viewers who were mostly from Haunt Forum mixed in with some friends and peeps from Twitter. The response was pretty good and I had a lot of fun just being me.

I’d like to give a huge shout out to the wifey for being such a trooper and team player in my madness. She even came down a couple times and waved to the viewers.

We had a couple glitches throughout the night but it could have been far worse. At least twice our cable modem went on the fritz loosing connectivity. This is no fault of the show and it kinda has been an ongoing battle with Comcast for a while now. I’ll have to call them out to check the box. The other technical glitch was really caused by the fact that the PC that’s setup down there is kinda old and the RAM is a bit flakey. As a result the Google Chrome window that was running the ustream broadcast crashed near the end of the show loosing the recorded video.

Going forward I’m gonna try and fit the show into a loose format. I’ll try to broadcast nightly Monday-Friday as much as I possibly can. The M-F shows will start at 10:00pm eastern and will run no later than midnight. Because of the browser crash issue we will be breaking the show into segments running 25 minutes each with a 5 minute break between each. This gives me a chance to save the segment and maybe grab a snack or refreshments.

I haven’t determined a schedule for the weekends since they are a bit more hectic for me. The plan though is to broadcast at no fixed time throughout the afternoon, recording outdoors when weather permits. However the most likely case for the weekend shows will be pre-recorded updates that I’ll post here on the site.

I’ll get some pictures tonight before the show of the updates to Joe Rombie and post em up on his prop page. I’ll try and do this going forward for everything built.

So keep watchin and look for the show this evening at 10pm – same bat time, same bat channel! Tonight’s plan is to disassemble Ella the FCG (Flying Crank Ghost for the noobs out there) and rework the prop in general making it a little more creepy.
